Dayun Group (officially trading as Shanxi Dayun Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) is a major Chinese private automotive conglomerate headquartered in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, China. Established originally in 1987 by industrialist Yuan Qinshan as a high-precision motorcycle assembly and component venture, the firm aggressively expanded into heavy-duty commercial trucks in 2004. Today, the corporation stands as one of the largest private automotive heavy industrial networks in China, trailing only the state-backed behemoths in raw regional logistics influence.
Operating out of massive, ultra-automated mega-factory hubs centralized in Yuncheng, Shanxi; Chengdu, Sichuan; and Shiyan, Hubei, the company is undergoing a comprehensive high-voltage technological transformation. Moving far beyond traditional diesel internal combustion engines, Dayun is actively leading China's New Energy vehicle (NEV) transition through its specialized premium intelligent sub-brands, Yuanhang Auto and Dayun NEV.
The Two-Wheeled Genesis and the Heavy Truck Leap (1987–2008)
The corporate lineage began in Shanxi when entrepreneur Yuan Qinshan established a commercial agency to repair and fabricate high-quality motorcycle frames. By deploying automated assembly lines, Dayun's motorcycle division exploded, eventually capturing massive chunks of the Asian, African, and Latin American commuter markets, with its famous slogan—"风驰天下,大运摩托" ("Speeding Across the World, Dayun Motorcycle")—becoming an absolute cultural staple across millions of households.
Ambitious to enter the heavy industrial sector, Yuan made a high-stakes, multi-million-pound corporate gamble in 2004: he established a clean-sheet heavy-duty commercial vehicle division in Yuncheng, spending years constructing a state-of-the-art metallurgical foundry to break the monopoly of traditional state-owned truck builders.
The Shanxi Production Milestone and Fleet Dominance (2009–2019)
On 26 October 2009, the factory proudly rolled out its inaugural heavy-duty commercial masterpiece: the Dayun N8 Series. This Class 8 cab-over-engine (COE) tractor was an absolute mechanical revelation of resourcefulness and local provincial engineering pride. Powered by high-torque Weichai diesel engines and paired with heavy-duty Fast gearboxes, the N8 was engineered with a highly robust, double-layer steel chassis frame designed specifically to handle continuous heavy over-load thrashing across mining and construction logistics channels.
The N8 and its aerodynamic highway sibling, the Dayun N9, became an absolute commercial stampede, single-handedly propelling Dayun into China’s elite top-tier commercial truck sales charts.
The New Energy Pivot and the Yuanhang Luxury Vanguard (2020–Present)
Entering the 2020s, heavily backed by state-guided alternative-energy development frameworks, Dayun Group completely tore up its old playbook to lead the high-voltage EV revolution. They constructed specialized smart manufacturing bases in Chengdu to launch Dayun NEV, rolling out highly successful zero-emission electric light trucks and micro-urban passenger cars like the Dayun Yuehu crossover.
In August 2022, Dayun executed an extraordinary high-technology luxury leap by unveiling its premium standalone intelligent electric vehicle brand: Yuanhang Auto. Co-developed alongside global tech vanguards Bosch, Huawei, and AliOS, Yuanhang launched a fleet of space-age, ultra-luxury grand touring fastback saloons and flagship SUVs (such as the Yuanhang Y6 and H8).
Packing an advanced 800V ultra-fast charging architecture co-developed with Bosch—capable of flashing from 20% to 80% battery capacity in just 10 minutes while extracting a physics-defying 1,020-kilometre CLTC driving range—Dayun has successfully preserved its heavy-duty cross-continental legacy for the clean energy economy.
